Flux Valve

A Flux Valve is a magnetic sensory device that electrically transmits information to an aircraft's compass system regarding its orientation relative to Earth’s magnetic field.

This information, in the form of three separate electrical signals tied to a common return, is used to generate a visual indication to the flight crew regarding the heading of the aircraft relative to magnetic north.

Our flux valves are used on a number of commercial and military aircraft, such as the Embraer 135 / 145 and the Boeing F18 E/F.

We have recently obtained TSO certification on a new design. The revised design utilizes smaller gimbals mounting pins to ensure:

  • Less resistance
  • Faster response / recovery time to attitude changes.

Compass Calibration Systems

Firstmark has discontinued production of the MK-3/MC-2000 Master Compass Calibration Set. However, we continue to offer aftermarket repair support and calibration services. Please contact us at (919) 956-4200 and we will be happy to address your needs.

We are proud of our legacy of providing ground support equipment for calibration of aircraft navigational components without the use of a compass rose.

While the use of inertial navigation systems in today's aircraft has eliminated the need to calibrate master compass heading systems with the MK3/MC-2000, Firstmark's Standby Compass Calibrator (SCC) system is still available, and allows the operator to calibrate the aircraft's standby compass without the use of a compass rose.

Standby Compass Calibrator

Our Standby Compass Calibrator (SCC) eliminates the need for the physical rotation of the aircraft to perform calibration of the standby compass.

By eliminating the need for conventional ground swinging, the standby compass is compensated more rapidly and inexpensively.

Our SCC is listed on both the Boeing and Airbus recommended equipment lists.

  • The SCC cancels the local effect of the Earth's magneticfield at the standby compass location
  • The SCC adds a standard magnetic field which can be rotatedto simulate aircraft heading, permitting compass error to be identifiedwithout physical rotation.
